VOL. L · SPRING COLLECTION · ANNO DOMINI 2026
We cut raw selvedge in Cole County, Missouri. We pull hand-dyed indigo from a Japanese mill that has been running its shuttle looms since before the Korean War. We build what we'd hand to our own sons — and we repair it, forever, on the house.

CHAPTER II · ON THE SELVEDGE
In a shed south of Okayama, on a river the color of raw indigo, sits a shuttle loom that was already old when the men who ran it were boys. Sixty-eight picks per minute. A thirty-inch weave. A single red thread running the length of the fabric to seal the edge and mark the work.
That red thread is called a selvedge. It is how the mill signs its name. When the denim comes off the loom, it has a finished edge that does not fray, does not roll, does not apologize. Modern projectile looms can't do it. They weave fabric three times wider in a tenth of the time. They save nobody any money that matters.
"Slower looms make better cloth. A shuttle loom throws a weft through the warp; it doesn't shoot it. The difference is that one tells the truth."
— H. SUZUKI, 4TH-GEN MILL HEAD, 1984 INTERVIEW
We buy our denim from that mill. We pay what they ask. We cut it with a saw-tooth pattern in Cole County, Missouri, one pair at a time, on tables our grandfathers built in the first shop. Every pair of MARLOW 505s carries that red line on the inside seam — a signature you'll see the first time you cuff them.
Wear them every day. For six months, don't wash them. Let your body learn the denim and the denim learn you. What happens after that is the whole point.

CHAPTER IV · FIELD JOURNAL
Long reads on mending, milling, and the slow rituals of raw denim. Written on the bench, printed on the press, mailed once a season.
Six months. No washes. Wear them through a summer, a harvest, a winter drive. Then rinse in cold water, dry them flat on the porch, and read the map your body drew.
We drove four hundred miles to see the last American shuttle looms in operation. What we found wasn't nostalgia — it was a working floor, still running, still honest.
A single garment worn across five winters, two moves, and one kitchen fire. This is what 12oz duck canvas looks like when you trust it with your life.

We only send our work to shops that understand it. Heritage retailers who break in their own denim, who know the difference between a selvedge edge and a chainstitch hem. If your city isn't here yet, order direct.

CHAPTER VI · FIT GUIDE
A mid-rise, straight-leg cut on our house MARLOW 505 block. Pre-shrunk 1.5% in the wash; we size to the finished measurement. Take a tape to a pair you already wear — if the numbers match, the fit will match.
